Today, we live in a lithium-ion rechargeable battery dependent world and that's not going to change.

The mineral cobalt is the essential component in virtually all lithium-ion rechargeable batteries made today.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is one of the poorest countries in the world but holds the world's riches deposits of cobalt.

Over 70% of the the world's supply of cobalt is found and mined in Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The massive industrial mines - now mostly Chinese-owned - are rampant with corruption, violence and child exploitation.

Much of the cobalt mined in the Congo is dug by hand in dangerous, toxic and subhuman conditions by men, women and TENS of THOUSANDS of CHILDREN!.

These innocent, helpless kids are suffering, often seriously injured, and even dying all while enduring unspeakable hardships. They are exploited, oppressed, robbed of their innocence and treated as subhuman - all for pennies per day while tech companies, EV (electric vehicles) companies and international governments reap the profit.

And, anyone who has a smart phone, or laptop, electric car or any other rechargeable device or gadget (which is virtually ALL of us) is unwittingly participating in this tragedy. In other words, like it or not, WE ARE ALL PART OF THE PROBLEM!

We can't change the reality of our dependency on our smart phones and gadgets, BUT, we do have power to also BE PART OF THE REMEDY - by choosing to DO SOMETHING to help these kids break the chains of poverty, exploitation, oppression and human rights abuses to live a free, happy and healthy life.
